It's not up to you how you fall. It's up to you how far you let yourself fall and how long it takes you to get back up and stand on your own two feet.
It’s always only the beginning. It doesn’t matter if you are young or old, you must know it. The greatness comes not when the things go always good for you but the greatness comes when you are really tested. When you take some knocks, some disappointments, when sadness comes. Because only if you’ve been in the deepest valley can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain – Richard Nixon
Signal for growth
Always give your best. Never get discouraged. Never be petty. Always remember. We have to realize that time of stress and also the times that are signals for growth. If we use adversity properly we can grow through adversity. These things happen to you and you think you’ve been dealt a terrible hand or had bad luck and you just go with it. You start improvising. Suddenly you realize you’ve stumbled on one of the best things that ever happened to you. One of the biggest disabilities we have as human beings is disbelief.
I will tell you a story about lobsters. Lobster are soft bushy animal that lives inside of a shell. That sell does not expend. As the lobster grows that shell becomes very confining. Lobster feels self under pressure and uncomfortable. Casts of the shell and proceeds into a new one. And eventually that shell also becomes very uncomfortable as it grows. The lobster repeats this numerous times. The stimulus for the lobster to be able to grow is that it feels uncomfortable. Now if lobsters have doctors they would never grow because as soon as the lobster feels uncomfortable, it goes to the doctor, gets a Valium or Percocet and feels fine.
It will never get of his shell. In order for the lobster to grow, at various stages of its life, it must molt. In other words, it has to get rid of its old shell and start to form a new one. Well for about 20-30 minutes the lobster is vulnerable whilst molting, it essentially becomes a piece of meat for other aquatic creatures on the prowl. The Lobster knows this, and has taken certain precautions to try to stop them from being as vulnerable such as forming a thin skin before it molts, and changing color. However, for the most part it knows that in order to grow larger it must get over its fear of being vulnerable and just shed its old shell.
Cut it off
Sometimes you’ve got to cut a little piece of yourself off, no matter how much it hurts in order to grow, in order to move on. Cut your fear off. Don’t have mercy for it. Don’t be afraid. Say you’re going to do something. Say it once. Put it out there for the world to see and go out and do it.
Ups and downs
You will have good days and you will have bad days but you will always learn something more or something new and you will learn more overall on bad days then good days. You will make mistakes along the way. You will fall down. I have. Many times. But what we do after we fall is what really counts.
Don’t shy away
Most of us have been on the end of many defeats in our life and we rose back. Don’t shy away from it. Don’t make excuses for it. Assess it and come back. If you can see it in your mind and you have courage to speak it. It will happen.
